Wednesday Drop In
Every Wednesday between 11 am – 12 noon, one of our two bereavement coordinators, Scott Lockwood or Chris Gevaert host a one hour support discussion. This is a drop-in group and no commitment is needed to attend. This is hosted at our South Chapel in the lounge. This drop in runs every Wednesday (except for July and August) No appointment is necessary.
8 Week Support Program
Twice a year we offer an 8-week format that uses open discussion concerning different topics related to adaptation after loss. This group offers a safe-haven where one can work through the feelings of grief. You will find yourself surrounded by people who know the pain of being isolated by their own grief, who are willing to listen and help.
Throughout the 8 weeks, we will discuss many helpful topics related to the grief process and you will have the opportunity to journey and learn from others in their experiences. Together we will navigate through the emotions, pain uncertainty, and questions with the goal of a renewed sense of purpose in life.
The group program is not an occasional drop-in group. It is a series of 8 weekly, 1 ½ hour sessions and is action based educational program. Participants are expected to attend each session and complete weekly self-work. Please contact Scott at (519) 566-8175, or Chris at (519) 992-4548 or either at (519) 253-7234, or by email at email@example.com ; firstname.lastname@example.org
One on One Support
Support can be provided beyond a group setting. The Heart and Soul Project is willing to provide an individual to talk with about your loss. While this is not counselling, it is a supportive ear with someone who is empathetic and willing to assist you on your journey. Scott Lockwood and Chris Gevaert have been involved with this type of care in Pastoral Ministry for over a decade and would be willing to assist.
Investing in the education and on-going learning for our community partners is important to us. We provide ongoing formation for Health Care Workers, Long Term Care Professionals, Hospice Professionals and many others. If you have a group that would be interested in a presentation from one of our professionals please contact Scott, Chris or Margaret.
Death and grief can be complex for anyone, especially for children. The Heart & Soul Project recognizes and understands these complex feelings. We will work with children at the time of a loved one’s death; introducing them in an age appropriate way to what they can expect to experience.
We have an extensive offering of services for youth in our community. Support in our area schools, as well as at the time of death and following a death are also supported by our community education specialist, Margaret Slack.
